Cannibal Corpse adalah Band Deathmetal asal Buffalo-New York,Amerika Serikat yang ddirikan tahun 1988 oleh Alex Webster,Bob Rusay,Chris Barnes,Jack Owen,dan Paul Mazurkiewicz,dengan memiliki mini studio dan pemancar radio kecil merekapun bisa mempromosikan demo lagu-lagu cannibal corpse sehingga band ini dapat merelease album pertama mereka tahun 1991 yang diberi titel Buchered at Birth dan tahun berikutnya mengekuarkan album Tomb of the Mutilated,penjualan kedua album ini disambut meriah oleh penggemarnya diseluruh dunia dengan pencapaian penjualan satu juta lebih ditahun 2003 dan setengahnya untuk pasar amerika membuat band ini menjadi band deathmetal dengan penjualan album terlaris di amerika.
Cannibal Corpse banyak terinspirasi oleh band-band Trashmetal seperti Sodom,Slayer,dan Kreator untuk band deathmetal sendiri mereka terinspirasi dari Morbid Angel dan Death.Aksi panggung pertama mereka yaitu disebuah Cafe di Buffalo-Newyork,selang setahun dari mereka manggung band ini menandatangani kontrak dengan perusahaan rekaman besar Metal Blade Records dan merelease album Eaten back to Life di tahun 1990.Banyak perubahan Line-up pada band ini salah satunya ketika anggota pendiri band Bob Rusay dipecat ia beralih profesi sebagai Instruktur Pemain Golf,Chris Barnespun pernah dipecat karena bergabung dengan band Six Feet Under dan digantikan oleh George"Corpsegrinder"Fisher.
Kontroversi yang terjadi pada Cannibal Corpse pada saat Senator Amerika Serikat Bob Dole menuduh mereka sebagai Perusak karakter Nasional Amerika,karena lirik dari lagu-lagu Cannibal Corpse banyak bertema cerita Fiksi Horor dan kekerasan,bahkan ada beberapa negara yang melarang Penjualan Album mereka termasuk juga mensensor Cover Album Asli dari band tersebut,di australia orang dibawah umur 18 tahun dilarang untuk membeli album Cannibal Corpse,lain lagi di jerman Album Tomb of Mutilated dilarang untuk dijual karena Cover Album dan lirik lagu-lagu cannibal corpse dinilai sangat mengganggu.
